The Code

Live it on every job.
Every Need A Trade member signs this Code before their Member Profile is published. Same Code for every member — no premium-tier variations, no opt-outs, no soft-spots. The publisher version of the Code lives on needatrade.com.au/code-of-conduct.
- 01
Truthful credentials
You will only present licences and qualifications that are current, accurate, and applicable to the work you quote.
- 02
Current insurance
You hold the public liability and (where required) workers comp cover for your work, and can produce a current COC on request.
- 03
Written quotes
You quote in writing with scope, materials, labour, and any open items named — for substantive work, no one-line text quotes.
- 04
Lawful deposits
Your deposit and progress payment structure sits inside the statutory limits of the state you work in.
- 05
Variations in writing
Any variation to scope is re-quoted and approved in writing before the variation work begins.
- 06
Stated warranty
You state the statutory, workmanship and materials warranty layers that apply, in writing, without overclaiming.
- 07
Clear scope
You don't knowingly accept work outside your licence class or competence — you say so and refer.
- 08
Respectful conduct
You treat homeowners, their property, and other trades on site with courtesy and respect.
- 09
Aftercare basics
You respond to reasonable post-completion queries about the work inside a stated, documented window.
- 10
Honest representation
You don't misrepresent your Member Profile, credentials, service area, or what being a member means.
What good operators already do
Every commitment above is something a working tradie already does on a normal day. The Code isn't a new standard — it's the documentation of the standard your best work already meets. Signing makes that visible to homeowners who haven't met you yet.
